Welcome to VIDAS

Dr. Ginny Gill

My first trip to Mexico as part of a volunteer clinic was in June of 2002. At that time I was a second year veterinary student at CSU. Dr. Lesli Hick was listed as a contact person for an externship at a veterinary clinic in Playa del Carmen. After contacting her to get information on the externship, she invited me to combine my externship trip with a spay/neuter clinic she had organized. It had been such a rewarding experience, and the continued need was apparent, so I jumped at the chance to found VIDAS with Cristina, Ruth and Robyn.

I have a BA in Spanish from the University of Wyoming. After much soul searching during my undergraduate studies, I decided to put my efforts towards becoming a veterinarian. I am now nearing the end of veterinary school, and I will graduate in May of 2004. Following school, I will be participating in a yearlong small animal medicine and surgery internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City.

I’m getting married this June to Brian Bummer, and we have three wonderful pets (Bella and Bridger, the dogs, Penelope, the cat). My parents, Bob and Priscilla Gill, have Maya, a black beach dog that we brought home from the Playa clinic in 2002.

I’m so excited to be a part of such a dynamic and outstanding group. VIDAS has so much in store for the future, and it is my sincere hope that we can make a difference in the lives of the people and animals that we help. I look forward to VIDAS being an integral part of my veterinary career.
