Jan McHugh-Smith is the CEO of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley an Open Admission shelter that provides animal control service to the local community. With eighteen years of experience in animal welfare, Jan worked in many different positions as an animal welfare professional. She is vice-president of The Colorado Federation of Animal Welfare Agencies, serves on the American Humane Shelter Advisory Board, and served on the board of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators for six years. She is a frequent presenter on animal welfare issues at conferences in the United States. Her education includes two bachelor degrees: Biology and Music.
