Welcome to VIDAS

Volunteer Coordinator

I attended my first VIDAS clinic in Tulum in October of 2004 as a sophomore veterinary student. Since then I have taken on the task of coordinating the VIDAS volunteers and serving on the board of directors. I recently graduated from veterinary school at Colorado State University and am now working on completing a shelter medicine and surgery internship. My home is in Colorado with my husband Tony (also a VIDAS volunteer), three cats, two english setters and a black lab mix.

Originally from Kansas, I majored in music therapy at the University of Kansas before discovering my calling in veterinary medicine. From there I earned a bachelor of science degree in veterinary technology from Mercy College in New York and became a licensed veterinary technician. Before attending veterinary school, I worked as a technician for many years in critical care and oncology. I also occasionally volunteered my time to run anesthesia for a local humane society’s spay/neuter clinic. I have always been very concerned with animal overpopulation issues and that is what led me to become involved in VIDAS.

I am in awe of the compassion and selflessness of the people who volunteer their time to this amazing organization and consider it an honor to be in their company. The difference VIDAS makes in improving the quality of life for people and animals in the Yucatan inspires me on a daily basis!
